Founded in 1851 by Cornishman Walter Hicks, today St Austell Brewery remains 100% independent and family owned. Their brewery in St Austell produces many of the region’s most popular beers for sale in pubs, bars and supermarkets in Cornwall, Devon, across the UK and also overseasOur thriving estate spans the South West ranging from Bristol in the east to the Isles of Scilly in the west. Indeed many of the South West’s most famous pubs are part of the St Austell Brewery estate and you will usually find one of their pubs at the heart of every community, particularly in Cornwall.
With all these strings to their bow it’s no wonder St Austell Brewery is one of Cornwall’s largest employers with over 1,000 full and part time employees, 300 working in their brewing, distribution and head office functions and 700 serving customers in St Austell Brewery’s 25 managed pubs, hotels and inns.
They also operate a local sourcing policy where we aim to work wherever we can with trades people, food suppliers, colleges and farms that are also within the local vicinity.
